GE Services personnel have previously played a critical role in assisting Northern Powergrid field engineers with the recovery plan for four 11kV and three 33kV cable circuits that were fire-damaged on a dedicated cable bridge in Sheffield. Key actions included:
- Site Assessment Coordination: Arranged for fault repair engineers to attend the site, assess the route to the cable bridge, and determine access requirements.
- Collaboration and Methodology: Worked closely with Northern Powergrid field engineers and fault repair contractors to agree on a methodology and timescale for the recovery and replacement of the damaged cables, as well as necessary repairs to the bridge.
- Detailed Recovery Programme: Prepared a comprehensive recovery and replacement programme, prioritising the re-energisation of circuits based on Northern Powergrid’s requirements.
- Commercial Arrangements: Finalised the time, expenses, and commercial application for payment related to the fault repair engineers, ensuring all aspects were agreed upon and documented.
This project underscores GE Services’ ability to manage urgent and complex repair operations, ensuring effective collaboration, timely execution, and adherence to commercial agreements.
